Anyone notice that the Viper Craigslist ad post from last week has over 1 million clicks already? By comparison, Gamecat’s Blackbird post from 3 years ago only has about 740k.

The Viper story was picked up by other sites... I don’t think the Blackbird one was.

Yes. And I already made fun of people who think Vipers are actually dangerous to drive.

I’ve had a few shared to the FP that have gotten into the teen-thousands and the notifications for even that were overwhelming. I can’t imagine what this one must be like.

740k is actually the number of people in the world who haven't seen it

Good often has nothing to do with it. I’ve been shared 3 times and I don’t consider any of them to be particularly good.

The Dodge Viper and the SR-71 Blackbird are both niche products. Unless you have a connection to them, you are probably not all that interested. Just sayin'. . .

I had about 39k hits on my story about McLaren doors and thought that my notification button was about to explode. This is just insanity.

The numbers are fishy. There aren't too many comments last I checked. I did see it shared on the kinja roundup though.

Facebook effect. I suspect it’s far easier to share a quick & easy story to your facebook “friends” (and have them click through) when compared to a nerdy, long anecdote from an Air Force pilot. Neither is better or worse. Who would I rather sit in a room and talk to? The people clicking on the Blackbird. Who would I ask for funny cat videos from? The Viper people.

Here’s some front page content I have been responsible for.
The Citroen/911 one was shared, but I just participated in the other two.
